With the help of police in New Jersey, Milton police on Monday brought a 16-year-old girl who had been missing for more than seven weeks.
Milton detectives determined the juvenile was in Plainfield, N.J., and spoke to police in that town. The juvenile was reported missing in Milton on June 21, according to Milton Deputy Police Chief John King, who declined to release her name.
The Plainfield police took the juvenile into custody on Milton police’s behalf at about 2:30 a.m. on Monday, then sent her back to Massachusetts.
She had been willingly staying with a man who wound up being taken into custody in New Jersey on unrelated charges, according to King.
The juvenile was brought to court on Tuesday under criminal charges, but King declined to say what the charges were.
