Milton Police are asking locals to be on the alert after several residents received solicitations over the phone from a man claiming to be representing Milton Babe Ruth Baseball.

According to an alert on the Milton Police Department Facebook page, police believe the call is a scam, and have asked residents not to give out any personal information or any type of donations.

“We have been advised by our local baseball organizations that they are not soliciting donations by phone at this time,” police said on the website.

Residents who responded to the Facebook message said they too had been receiving calls from a private number. Some residents said they were asked for by name and were told donations would be picked up.

Anyone who receives the call should notify Milton Police at (617) 698-3800 or on their anonymous tip website.
