Musical artists Sean Kingston and Stay to perform at Natick High
Reggae singer and rapper Sean Kingston is coming to Natick High School's auditorium Nov. 1 and students at the high school on Friday had mixed reactions to the performance, ranging from excited and begging for tickets, to completely ambivalent.
Kingston is known for his hit songs including "Beautiful Girls," and “Fire Burning”. He has performed on numerous TV shows and for huge audiences all over the world.
But on Nov. 1 Kingston will be performing at the Natick High School’s Healy Auditorium with Boston-based band Stay.
“The school is kind of surprised that he’s actually coming, like, why Natick High?” said Danielle Brakey, a sophomore. “Some people thought it was just a rumor, but then it actually became a reality, so a lot of people are excited for it.”
On the other side of enthusiasm was Ryan Gaudet, a junior.
Gaudet said there hasn't been a lot of chatter among his friends about the event. "Most people don't really care that much,'' he said.
The all-ages show begins at 5 p.m., according to an event announcement. More information about the show, including how to purchase tickets, can be found on Stay's Myspace page. The all-ages show begins at 5 p.m., according to an event announcement. The show is being sponsored by an outside company and it not a school event.
The show is one of a handful of tour dates for Stay.
Mike Wodeyla, of Natick-based Allen Adrien Events, LLC, the company behind the show, said the venue is comparable in size to clubs in Boston, and noted that the line-up appeals to a high school demographic.
“It makes sense to run the event directly in the school to generate additional interest from the local students,” Wodeyla said in an email. “It also gives the students the opportunity to see a professional concert right at their school.”
