Suburban nonprofits get $160K boost
Twenty two nonprofit organizations in suburbs west of Boston, including Framingham, Waltham and Newton, will receive around $160,000 today in grants focused on arts and culture, family support and the environment.
Funding from the Foundation for MetroWest, a Natick-based philanthropy organization which aids area nonprofits, will support activities including the creation of new jobs, staff development, providing resources to the elderly and victims of domestic abuse, and building park lands.
The grants will be distributed to organizations at an event Monday afternoon at the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln.
“During this time of unprecedented financial need, Foundation for MetroWest is proud to support organizations throughout the region,” the foundation’s executive director, Judith Salerno said in a press release today. “By distributing these much needed funds we are doing our part to ensure that the MetroWest region remains vital and strong.”
This year the foundation has distributed around $600,000 throughout the western suburbs and more than $5.5 million since its inception in 1995 to support education, arts and culture, family services, and the environment.
