AARP Massachusetts invites Natick residents and other locals to share their experience and opinions about Medicare and Social Security during the organization's "You’ve Earned a Say" community Conversation at the Natick Senior Center next Friday.

AARP says it is taking the debate about the future of Medicare and Social Security out from behind closed doors in Washington, and into communities across the country, so Americans can have a voice, according to a prepared statement from the organization.

There is no cost to participate in this event, but pre-registration is required; call 508-647-6541 or 781-741-1458 to reserve a seat.

The event in Natick will be moderated by Jason Shemenski, an AARP Massachusetts advocacy associate.

“You’ve worked too hard to let the next president and Congress make decisions about the future of Medicare and Social Security without hearing from you," Shemenski said in the statement. "You’ve earned your Medicare and Social Security benefits, and you have a right to speak up about how to strengthen these pillars of retirement security for today’s seniors and tomorrow’s retirees – for generations to come.”

Over the next few months, AARP Massachusetts will facilitate more than 30 You’ve Earned a Say community conversations across the commonwealth, will hold telephone town hall meetings for tens of thousands of members, and will sponsor webinars for those interested in sharing their views online. In addition, AARP volunteers will distribute You’ve Earned a Say questionnaires, and information, at scores of public events and activities throughout the year.

The Natick event will take place Friday, May 25, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the town's senior center, located at 90 Oak St. in Natick.

For more information about the campaign, call 1-866-448-3621 or visit their website.
