Natick will hold its 57th annual Fourth of July parade in the center of town starting Wednesday at 9 a.m., according to organizers from the Natick Friends of the Fourth group.

The parade will start at the corner of Route 9 and Route 27 and travel up Route 27, through Main Street and Natick Center, and then end around Saint Patrick's Parish around 44 East Central St.

The parade will feature an array of fire engines, bands, floats, and will also host famed children's television show host Rex Trailer of WBZ-TV's Boomtown.

The town will not host holiday fireworks this year, as it has not done since 2005, said Maureen Sullivan, a member of Friends of the Fourth.

She said the town used to show fireworks from behind the Natick Mall, but cannot safely do so anymore due to the new condominiums constructed there.

"People keep saying you should hold it at the high school and such and such, but it’s fire safety regulations, and we also need good access roads to get traffic in and out safely," Sullivan said.

She said residents usually travel to nearby communities for fireworks, such as Waltham, Newton or Boston.

Fireworks in Waltham will begin at 9:30 p.m., and the best place to view those are from Leary Field, said Waltham city officials.

Boston fireworks are scheduled to start at 10:35 p.m. along the Esplanade following a Boston Pops performance at the Hatch Shell.
