The Natick Education Foundation is accepting nominations for its 2013 Shining Light Awards, which recognize educators, residents and businesses that contribute to the community.
Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 2 and the foundation will hold its ceremony at The Center for Arts in Natick on March 20.
There are three awards available:
- The Harriet F. Siegel Shining Light Award: Recognizes individual volunteers in the Natick community for their contributions to the quality of life and/or public education in Natick
- The Educator Shining Light Award: Honors an individual who has made a lasting, outstanding professional and/or personal contribution to Natick's children
- The Community Business Shining Light Award: Recognizes businesses that have exhibited leadership and support for education in Natick
Recipients of each award receive a plaque and proclamations in their honor from state and local government officials, and are inscribed on award plaques on display at the Morse Institute Library.
A one-year grant from the foundation is named after the recipient of the business award. The recipients of the Harriet F. Siegel and educator awards are each given the opportunity to direct $1,000 of foundation funds to the educational project of the recipient's choice, although some restrictions may apply.
