Natick absentee ballots for the special state primary election scheduled for April 30 are now available, according to the Town Clerk’s office.

The primary election is for the US Senate seat vacated by John Kerry when he left to be secretary of state. The Democratic primary candidates are US Representatives Edward J. Markey and Stephen F. Lynch; Republican primary candidates include State Representative Daniel B. Winslow, former US attorney Michael J. Sullivan, and Gabriel E. Gomez, a private equity investor and former Navy SEAL.

Candidates of both parties debated on live television earlier this week. The Democratic candidates clashed over healthcare, while few sparks flew during the GOP debate.

The last day to register to vote for the special election is Wednesday, April 10, and any absentee applications for Natick residents must be received by noon on Monday, April 29.

Local absentee votes are allowed when a resident: will be absent from Natick on election day; cannot access the polling place due to physical disability; or if religious beliefs prohibits voting that day, according to the clerk’s office.

Voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office on the first floor of Town Hall at 13 East Central St., or residents can access the forms online at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleifv/howabs.htm.

The Town Clerk’s office hours are Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

For more information, contact the Town Clerk’s office at 508-647-6430, extension 4, or visit the town's website.
