Natick State Rep. David P. Linsky announced this week that the Massachusetts Cultural Council that the Natick Cultural District was awarded a $10,000 John and Abigail Adams Program grant.
In a statement, Linsky said the grants support cultural activities and projects that benefit local residents, while supporting jobs in the nonprofit cultural sector. The announcement was made as part of Massachusetts Cultural Council’s statewide funding program.
“Natick, Sherborn and Millis all offer unique cultural resources for residents and visitors,” Linsky said in a statement. “These state grants will help ensure that local art and cultural programs remain vibrant and accessible to all.”
Local Cultural Councils comprise the most extensive public cultural funding network in the nation, according to Linksky, providing funding to every Massachusetts city and town through 329 local councils and more than 2,300 volunteers. The councils support local arts and history, fund school field trips, and sponsor local concerts and exhibitions.
This year, the Natick Cultural Council will receive $5,950, the Sherborn Arts Council will receive $4,250, and the Millis Cultural Council will receive $4,250.
