Livingston Taylor coming to Needham

Posted September 21, 2009 09:00 AM

Livingston Taylor will perform in a benefit concert for Citizens for the Preservation of Town Hall, which is trying to raise extra cash to upgrade the lighting and sound systems as part of a renovation of Town Hall.

The “Great Hall Fundraiser,” on October 3, at 6:30 pm, at Olin College’s Milas Hall, will also feature the “best and brightest” Needham-based musicians as well as food from Needham restaurants such as Spiga, Sweet Basil, Petit Robert Bistro, and Tu y Yo, according to a press release.

The hope is that the Great Hall, on the second floor of Town Hall, will be “restored to its historic role as a place where the community can gather for celebrations, music, exhibits and events,” according to the release. Town funding for the large renovation project includes only “basic facilities for light and sound,” so the group is raising funds that will be added to the $57,500 already committed by the Needham Bank.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person or $150 for both the event and a private reception with Taylor prior to the concert plus premium concert seating.

For more information or to buy tickets, go to needhamgreathall.org. Tickets can also be purchased by sending a check (payable to “Citizens for the Preservation of Town Hall”) to Sandra Rizkallah, 146 Warren Street, Needham, MA 02492.
