An unknown number of people broke into the Newman School over the holiday weekend, causing minor damage in the building.

The individuals moved furniture, wrote on the chalkboards, and ripped up papers, according to Needham Police Lt. Chris Baker.

"It was more writing on boards and disturbing furniture, moving it around than any type of destruction," Baker said.

Assistant Principal Mark McAneny said in a letter to parents that he believes a few children were behind the incident.

"Although, this news is disturbing, I can assure you that no one was injured, the building is safe, and there were only minor disturbances to classroom materials," the letter read.

The Needham Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
