Two local school principals who are also cancer survivors will ride alongside their students in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge Newton-Needham-Brookline Kids Ride. The May 23 event will raise money for cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The principals are Suzanne Wilcox of the John Eliot School in Needham and Mark Springer of the Mason-Rice Elementary School in Newton Center. They will join an expected 500 children from age three to 17 for a choice of a short toddler loop, a quarter mile loop around Wells Office Park, or a 17-mile teen road ride. Event organizers said in a press statement they hope to raise $75,000 at the event.
The ride will conclude with a party with activities and raffle prizes.
The ride starts at noon at 180 Wells Office Park in Newton. Registration is still open and costs $10 with a recommended $50 fundraising minimum. Register at http://kids.pmc.org/NNB.
