Student recognized for community service
Needham senior Hannah Miller was the recipient of the May RAY of Hope award in Needham for her contributions to the community.
The program, meaning "Recognize a Youth," is jointly sponsored by Needham Youth Services and the Needham Business Association, in an effort to recognize young people actively involved in community service. Miller participates locally in the Friendship Circle, and was nominated by its director Chanie Krinsky.
“Hannah is extraordinarily committed to her volunteer work with children with special needs,” Krinsky said in a press release. “She brings amazing warmth, liveliness, and friendship with her.”
Miller has worked with several groups to help children with special needs, including the Gateways Access to Jewish Education program and the local Jewish Community Center. Miller is also the co-leader of her high school a capella group, “Fermata Nowhere.”
Miller will graduate from Needham High School this month; she will begin attending Skidmore College in the fall.
