Needham residents can get an update on the Pollard Middle School renovations planned for next year at a public forum being held this month by the Permanent Public Building Committee.
Schools Superintendent Dan Gutekanst said George Kent, chairman of the building committee, will present a revised parking plan that costs half as much as the original plan presented at Special Town Meeting last month.
The forum will be on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. at Broad Meadow Elementary, 120 Broad Meadow Rd.
An architect hired by the school will also be at the School Committee meeting the following night to answer questions, Gutekanst said.
Town Meeting members rejected an $875,000 plan for a new parking lot and access road at the Pollard last month. The plan aimed to prepare for the arrival of Newman Elementary School students and staff next year as the Newman School undergoes renovation.
Some members voiced concern at Special Town Meeting that the project cost too much, and some said they thought other, cheaper options were available.
Guteskanst said the revised plan will provide alternative access to the Pollard parking lot and additional parking that will meet the short- and long-term needs at the school.
Kent will consider feedback resulting from the forum, and the revised plan will be brought to Special Town Meeting in the spring, said Gutekanst.
