Celebrations commemorating the 300th anniversary of the town's founding are set to begin at noon Saturday with La Carnival, a fair on the town common. At 3 p.m., selectmen will dedicate the newly refurbished Town Hall after a year of construction and renovations. The Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts will also rededicate the Town Hall's cornerstone with the help of a Bible used during George Washington's inauguration. Needham 300, the nonprofit committee that has organized anniversary events throughout the year, will then hold two galas. The first will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the second floor of Town Hall. Registration for the main event begins at 8 p.m. at Town Hall. A shuttle will transport participants to Greene's Field, where a large tent will accommodate up to 1,000 guests until 1 a.m. There will be dancing, a cash bar, live music, and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets and more information at www.Needham300.org. The final tercentennial event will be an ecumenical service for the community at First Parish in Needham, 23 Dedham Avenue, at 4 p.m. next Sunday, the actual 300th anniversary of the town&'s founding. - Dan Adams
