Some commuter rail lines to see schedule changes on July 1

Along with fare increases and reductions of some service that kick in on July 1, the commuter rail will see some scheduling changes.

“The new schedules reflect operational improvements that will enhance service reliability and the customers' experience,” said an e-mail from Scott Farmelant, spokesman for the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company, which operates the commuter rail system under a contract with the MBTA.

He said that the scheduling changes (scroll down to see a full list of the changes) coincide with the other changes the T plans to implement on July 1. Because new schedules needed to be printed due to the planned fare increases anyway, changing the schedules will not add any costs.

NEWBURYPORT/ROCKPORT

Train 106 departs Rockport 5 minutes earlier
Train 153 departs Boston 2 minutes later
Train 109 departs Boston 5 minutes earlier
Train 62 departs Beverly 5 minutes earlier
Train 164 departs Newburyport 6 minutes earlier
Train 189 departs Boston 5 minutes earlier
Train 198 departs North Beverly and Beverly 1 minute earlier (no change Salem to Boston)
All outbound Rockport trains arrive Rockport 1 minute later

HAVERHILL

Train 222 departs Andover 5 minutes later (train is also shown on Lowell schedule)

LOWELL

FITCHBURG

Train 468 departs Brandeis/Roberts 3 minutes later and Waltham 2 additional minutes later (arrives Boston 5 minutes later)

WORCESTER

No changes

NEEDHAM

Train 620 South Station arrival time corrected to 5:42pm

FRANKLIN

Train 706 departs Norwood Central 1 minute later and Dedham Corp. Ctr. 1 additional minute later (arrives Boston 2 minutes later)
