Town officials in Needham are opening up Town Hall on Thursday for live-streamed Olympic viewing, as their hometown Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman competes in the all-around competition.

The viewing will be held in the James Hugh Powers Hall, according to Board of Selectmen chairman Jerry Wasserman. The hall only has room for 300 people, so it will be limited to the first 300 to arrive. Doors open at 10:45, and the viewing will begin at 11:30.

Wasserman said that the town decided on a daytime viewing so that people could bring their kids – the delayed viewing, he said, is too late for many youngsters.

Officials are trying to arrange light refreshments, he said, but do not yet know if it will be possible to do. People are asked not to bring any food to the hall.
