The Town of Needham has announced on its website that the impending tropical storm may impact Town Meeting on Monday.

According to town clerk Theodora Eaton, town officials met this afternoon with emergency personnel to discuss emergency preparedness. At this time, no change has been made to the schedule for Town Meeting to be held October 29 at 7:30 p.m. at James Hugh Powers Hall.

"It will depend on the storm," Eaton said, adding that the decision will be posted on the town website.

Eaton said that if the storm is bad, she and the moderator, Michael Fee, would meet and likely close the meeting for lack of quorum. The meeting would be rescheduled and the town would use a phone bank to let the rest of the Town Meeting members know.

According to current reports from the Weather Channel, Hurricane Sandy is expected to hit New England as early as Sunday and continue into Monday and Tuesday.
