Public school classes have been canceled Monday in Needham as Hurricane Sandy bears down on the region, but town officials are still deliberating whether to hold Town Meeting Monday night.

"Please check this website at noon on Monday, October 29, 2012 for the decision on whether Town Meeting will be held on Monday night at 7:30 pm in Powers Hall," stated a notice on the town website Sunday afternoon.

Town Clerk Theodora Eaton said Friday that if the storm is bad, she and the moderator, Michael Fee, would meet and likely close the meeting for lack of quorum. The meeting would be rescheduled and the town would use a phone bank to let the rest of the Town Meeting members know.

"It will depend on the storm," Eaton said, adding that the decision will be posted on the town website.
