School canceled in Needham, Special Town Meeting may be postponed due to Sandy
Needham students can thank Hurricane Sandy for a long weekend. Needham Public Schools are closed Monday due to the storm, according to the town’s website. School activities are also cancelled. Check here for further updates.
Town offices are closed, also. If residents need to report trees or wires down, they can call 781-455-7550 and select Option 2, then option 1 to be connected to the Department of Public Works Administration.
On Saturday, Governor Deval Patrick signed a State of Emergency Declaration for the state; on Sunday, the president signed it, which means federal aid can supplement state funds. Patrick asked res residents to stay off the roads, and officials across the state closed schools and told employees to stay at home.
Meanwhile, the scheduled Special Town Meeting planned for Monday night may be postponed. Town officials will have a decision on whether Town Meeting members should brave the storm or stay home by noon on Monday. Check here for updates. Residents can also sign up for the town’s reverse 911 system, Swift 911, on that website as well.
