School children in Needham will be partying for a good cause on Jan. 28 – to save a four-year-old boy’s life.

Boston-area nonprofit Kidz b Kidz is organizing an Art Party to benefit a little boy named Filipe, who came to the US from Brazil in November of 2011 for chemotherapy, and who now needs a liver transplant that he cannot afford, according to a release from KbK.

Felipe is not eligible for insurance in America, and Massachusetts General Hospital has estimated that the family will need more than $500,000 for medical expenses, according to the release. They have so far raised about $300,000.

KbK organizes Art Parties to teach children about the importance of helping others. On Jan. 28, children will gather at the Newman Elementary School in Needham to draw hearts in Felipe’s honor. Those hearts will be posted on KbK’s website so that people around the world can purchase Wicked Good Kidz b Kidz Cookies, decorated with the heart drawings, to help pay for Felipe’s treatment.

If you can’t make it to the elementary school, you can still submit your drawing on the KbK website.

From Jan. 28 until Valentine’s Day, cookies to support the I Love Felipe Fundraiser will be available for purchase. Half the proceeds go directly to Felipe, and the other half goes to KbK to support the program.

Donations can also be made on Felipe's website.
