Needham will celebrate Martin Luther King Day with a gathering organized by the Human Rights Committee, the Needham Clergy Association and the METCO program of the public schools.
The theme of this year’s celebration – the third of its kind in town – will be ‘children,’ according to a release. There will be musical performances by several children and youth groups, and Needham resident and WCVB-TV news anchor Jim Boyd will emcee. Reverend Debora Jackson, former pastor of First Baptist Church of Needham, will present the keynote address.
The event is designed as an opportunity for reflection.
It will be held in the Needham High School Auditorium. Refreshments will be served at 9:15 a.m. and the program will begin at 10 a.m.
