North Hill Hospitality Manager, resident Clara DeOrsay and her son-in-law Paul Friedberg celebrate DeOrsay's 105th birthday at a community party.

While the number of candles on her birthday cake - ten - didn't give away Clara DeOrsay's age, the Needham resident turned 105-years-old on July 24.

Born in 1908, DeOrsay is originally from the Philadelphia area, where she studied nursing. She became a registered nurse at Philadelphia General Hospital, where she met Ralph DeOrsay, a young surgeon in training who would become her husband.

She received a bachelors degree and went on to teach a new generation of nursing students.

DeOrsay has been a resident of the North Hill senior living community since 1997, where she doesn't let her age keep her from staying active. In addition to attending three morning fitness classes each week, DeOrsay enjoys dining in various North Hill venues and does her own shopping at the onsite store.

While her daughter passed away 10 years ago, her son-in-law, Paul Freidberg is a frequent visitor to the community where DeOrsay greets everyone with a smile and a kind word.
