Needham officials are seeking volunteers to fill a vacant seat on the town's Park and Recreation Commission, whose five members serve as stewards over 300 acres of open space and parks.
The commission is tasked with providing policies and long-range planning for parks and both passive and active recreation activities in Needham, representing all ages, according to town officials.
Some current projects include a feasibility study of Rosemary Pool, trail improvements at the reservoir and Newman Elementary School, new rail trail and aqueduct trails, update of the open space and recreation plan, and improvements to athletic fields.
The commission typically meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month, and members can expect a time commitment of between four and 10 hours per month with meetings and preparation, and other various events.
The selected volunteer will serve a term through the annual town election, which will be held on April 8 next year. Interested individuals must be registered voters in Needham.
Letters of interest and resumes should be sent by email to email@example.com, or through the mail by Sept. 6 to:
