Ben Oehlkers, a Brandeis University grad who currently studies at Boston University, will play the role of Marius, an integral character who helps lead the June Rebellion in the production and plays the love interest of Cosette.
Based on the classic Victor Hugo novel, Les Misérables is an eight-time Tony Award winner that has also recently gained mainstream popularity with the release of the 2012 movie starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.
The local play is produced by the Medfield-based Woodland Theatre Company, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing affordable, high-quality theatre to the communities west of Boston, according to representatives.
The production will run Oct. 4 and 5 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 5 and 6 at 2 p.m., in the auditorium of Medfield High School on South Street. Tickets are $30 and can be reserved by visiting the theatre company's website or by calling 508-655-0687.
