Needham police will take back locals' expired, unused, and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications this weekend.

Anyone who wants to dispose their medications can stop by the Needham Police Department's circular driveway at 99 School St. for a drive-through drop-off Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Authorities will take back prescription pills, as well as over-the-counter cough, cold and allergy medicine. Police will not accept needles, thermometers, medical waste or illegal drugs.

For anyone who cannot make the take-back event, a medication disposal kiosk is located in the Needham Police Department lobby, accessible 24/7.

For more information, contact Needham's health department at 781-455-7500 x259, or email Carol Read at cread@needhamma.gov.

This program is a joint partnership between the Needham Public Health Department, Needham Police Department and the Needham Coalition for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention.
