33 students named Merit Scholarship finalists

Thirty-three Newton public school students were selected as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. They were chosen from 16,000 national semifinalists, and are eligible for the 8,200 merit scholarships the program will award this Spring.

Thirteen students attend Newton North High School, and 20 come from Newton South.

The finalists from Newton North are Daniel Abromowitz, Maalika Banerjee, Royce Brown, Gregory Cohan, Elizabeth Cooke, Thomas Dinsmore, Anna Dukhovich, John Heilbron, Adina Hemley-Bronstein, Anne Kenslea, Adam Levin, German Novikov, and Danylo Villano.

The finalists from Newton South are Eli J. Adelman, Ally C. Bernstein, Christopher R. Damato, Aden W. Forrow, Mark A. Galinovsky, Georgia C. Halliday, Nathan T. Joseph, Jennifer Lee, Alice E. Li, Aron Y. Lurie, Lauren A. Rose, Jessica D. Rucinski, Juliet R. Ryan-Davis, Isabel Shmulevich, Alexander E. Tolkin, Lei Weng, Rachel Wong, Jie-Yoon Yang, Jielin Yu, and David J. Zelle.
