Scenes of graduations from Newton, and around the region

You might not think of Newton's Mayor, David Cohen, as a sports guy. After all, the middle aged town executive just doesn't fit the physical mode of an athlete. But that didn't stop him from citing Michael Jordan as an inspirational figure for graduates from Newton South High School. Noting that Jordan lost hundreds of games and missed dozens of game winning shots, Cohen made the point that you cannot succeed without being willing to risk failure.

The Newton South graduation on Thursday topped off a busy week of graduations in the area.
