In an effort to explore the mayoral candidates’ insights into and strategies for the city, the Newton Community Service Center’s Council of Advisors will host a mayoral candidates forum on Tuesday, Oct. 13 .

The forum will take place in the auditorium at center's main office at 492 Waltham Street in West Newton. It will kick off with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. followed by an official program at 8 a.m. and an audience Q&A session from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Attendance is free.

Newton’s primary election has yielded two final candidates to fill the position being vacated by longtime Mayor David Cohen: Ruth Balser and Setti Warren.

Moderated by Brooke Lipsitt, former president of Newton’s Board of Aldermen, the forum will focus on each candidate’s vision for providing a safety net to Newton citizens in this time of economic crisis and uncertainty. To ensure the most honest and candid responses, NCSC will not provide the candidates with a list of questions in advance.
