The Newton-Wellesley Hospital will be hosting its first annual HopeWalks fundraiser on Sept. 26 to benefit their services at the Vernon Cancer Center.
The 3.5 mile walk will begin and end at the hospital at 2014 Washington St. in Newton. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., and the walk starts at 10 a.m.
There is no minimum donation, but there is a $20 online registration fee, and awards will go to the largest teams and walkers who raise the most money. Day-of registration is $25, but children under 12 are free.
The Vernon Cancer Center provides patients with support, genetic testing, nutrition information, psychological support, pain management and therapeutic services. The hospital would like to offer these services to anyone who needs them, including patients without the ability to pay.
“We are very excited about HopeWalks and look forward to bringing the community together to benefit the Vernon Cancer Center,” said Joan Archer, vice president of development at Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation. “Proceeds from this exciting event will help ensure that we can continue to offer Integrative Support Services to all our cancer patients and their families to assist them in coping with this disease.”
Registration can be completed at www.nwh.org/hopewalks. Corporate sponsorships are still available. For more information, contact Haillie MacNeill at 617-243-5491 or email@example.com.
