A Newton man has been charged today with groping a Boston woman on an MBTA Green Line train between Copley and Hynes stations last week, prosecutors and MBTA police said today.

Jacob Shin, 36, of Newton Centre, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court today on a charge of indecent assault and battery, the Suffolk district attorney’s office said.

According to police reports, the victim was riding outbound on a D Line train at about 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 20 when Shin allegedly approached her and placed his hand on her inner thigh.

“Watch your hands,” the victim said, prompting the man to leave the train and the station.

MBTA Transit Police spoke with the victim later the same evening and, after taking a description and reviewing surveillance images, were able to identify the suspect. They arrested Shin at his residence Friday.

Judge Tracy-Lee Lyons set bail at $5,000 and ordered Shin to stay off the T and wear a GPS monitoring device if he posts bail, the DA’s office said.

Shin is scheduled to return to court on March 9.
