Online registration for HopeWalks is underway

Online registration is underway to participate the second annual HopeWalks event on Sept. 25 to benefit cancer support services at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

The 3.5 mile neighborhood walk, hosted by the Newton-Wellesley Charitable Foundation, will benefit Integrative support services offered at the Vernon Cancer Center.

“We look forward to once again bring the community together to benefit the Vernon Cancer Center,” said Joan Archer, vice president of development for the hospital. “The proceeds from HopeWalks will ensure the continued availability of a wide variety of support services, which directly help cancer patients during their treatment and recovery.”

According to a press release, the Integrative Support Services are life-enhancing services for cancer patients that optimize healing and comfort throughout treatment.

The goal is to make the services available to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

The event last year raised more than $280,000 with over 1,400 participants and 108 teams.

It is recommended that walkers raise a minimum of $100 to support the Vernon Cancer Center. Walkers who raise $500+ are considered “Super” walkers and those that $1000+ are considered “Power” walkers. Prizes will be given to the walkers and teams that raises the most money.

HopeWalks will begin and end at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

Check in is at 9 a.m on Sept. 25, the walk will begin at 10 a.m. rain or shine. Walkers will be treated to a hospitality tent and a BBQ lunch afterwards. HopeWalks T-shirts will be given to all participants.

The online registration fee is $25 per walker or $35 to register on paper the day of the event. Children 10 and under are free.
