The city of Newton will host an informational meeting on the city’s coyote population Wednesday night to address residents’ concerns after a household pet was attacked and killed by a coyote in West Newton.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the community room at the Newton Police Station, 1321 Washington St. In attendance will be Newton Animal Control staff and a representative from Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game.

‘‘The City is taking steps to ensure that residents have as much information as possible to help protect themselves and their family pets,’’ said a press release today from Mayor Setti Warren's office.
