Woman robbed while walking near BC in Newton
A 22-year-old woman was robbed in Newton on Monday night while walking in the vicinity of Commonwealth Avenue and Boston College, according to Newton police.
The woman was walking and talking on her cellphone just before 10:30 p.m. when a man came up behind her and pushed her to the ground. He stole her cellphone, a Sumsung with a pink case, and ran off.
The man was not armed.
Police searched the area but could not find him. He is described as white, with a medium build and possibly dark clothing.
The woman was not transported to the hospital, according to Newton Police Lieutenant Bruce Apotheker.
Apotheker said that the robbery did not appear to be linked to any other incidents.
"We have had nothing like that recently," he said.
