A Newton school bus was involved in a minor accident with a pickup truck on Parker Street in Newton Friday afternoon, police said.

According to Newton police captain Marc Gromada, no one was hurt after the bus hit the truck's tire as the bus was turning onto Parker Street from Roosevelt Road in Newton at about 2:20 p.m. The bus was carrying 35 students coming from Newton South High School.

The pickup truck had stopped on Parker Street to let the bus pull out.

Capt. Gromada said the bus company, Easton Transportation, is currently looking into the driver, whose name has not been released. He said he did not think anyone was going to be cited in the accident, though the bus driver has apparently had other incidents in the past.
