The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce is launching a new campaign to encourage residents to shop at local stores this holiday season.

The chamber, along with Mayor Setti Warren, will host a press conference on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Auburndale to introduce the shop local pledge. After the press conference, attendees will spread out around Auburndale’s stores to spend money, according to a press release from the chamber.

The event is billed as a “cash mob,” similar to a “flash mob” but instead of groups getting together to sing or dance, they gather to spend money at local stores.
