Woman robs Newton convenience store at gunpoint

A woman robbed a Quick Stop Convenience store in Newton Wednesday night, demanding money from the clerk before fleeing the scene, police said.

According to Newton police, the suspect approached the counter at 293 Watertown Street and said to the clerk, "Give me the money" around 9:06 p.m.

The clerk, a male, initially thought the suspect was joking, but handed over an unknown sum of money when the suspect pulled out a small, black handgun.

Police described the suspect as a white female, between ages 45 and 50, and 5'2" with a stocky build. The suspect was dressed in a black jacket and black scarf covering her face.

According to police, the suspect was last seen going north on Faxon Street on foot. No tips have been reported to the police at this time.
