Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters Community Mikveh and Education Center in Newton is seeking Jewish men of all backgrounds to facilitate ritual immersions in Mayyim Hayyim's mikva'ot (ritual baths) and educate about mikveh and Mayyim Hayyim.

According to the center, they are looking for volunteer mikveh guides, who facilitate immersions and serve as informal educators, giving tours, and explaining the process and history of immersion. From the time an individual registers for a visit to Mayyim Hayyim, the mikveh guide is available to answer procedural questions and help create meaningful mikveh ceremonies.

No prior mikveh experience is required and volunteer experts are flexible, although male guides are needed during the day Sunday through Friday. Guides are selected based on an application and interview process and in-depth training covers traditional as well as alternative uses of mikveh, ritual requirements, and the logistics of facilitating immersions.

The application deadline is Monday, Nov. 26. Group interviews will be held Dec. 11, 12, and 13, with training on Jan. 27, and Feb. 10 and 24, 2013.

To apply, visit www.mayyimhayyim.org/getting-involved.

For more information, contact Leah Hart Tennen, Mikveh Center Director, at leaht@mayyimhayyim.org or 617-244-1836 ext. 203.
