Newton Public Schools, including the pre-school programs, will be closed on Friday due to the snowstorm, district officials announced.

Newton City Hall and the free library will close at noon on Friday. And the Newton Senior Center will be closed all day.

But trash and recycling collection will take place as regularly scheduled Friday, city officials announced.

The city has declared a snow emergency beginning at noon on Friday. All cars must be off the street at that time.

Power outages should be reported to NStar at 1-800-592-2000.

Non-emergency issues should be reported to the city’s customer service line at 617-796-1000 or submitted online through the city’s 311 reporting system at www.newtonma.gov.
