Belmont Savings Back ribbon cutting in Newton

Belmont Savings Bank will hold an official grand opening for its new Newton branch on Friday.

The branch will be the bank's first in Newton, according to a press release. The opening will be attended by several local officials, including Ana Gonzalez, the community engagement director for the mayor's office.

Remarks will be made by President and CEO of Belmont Savings Bank, Bob Mahoney, and Executive Vice President and COO Hal Tovin, who will comment on the bank's commitment to Newton and its community. Neil Coutu, assistant director of the Shaws Supermarket where the bank is located will also speak, as will Gonzalez.

Rick Iacobucci, executive director of the Newton Schools Foundation will accept a check from the bank.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by a cake reception.

The opening will take place at 33 Austin Street in Newtonville, and the ribbon cutting will be between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
