North Andover, MA…The North Andover Cultural Council is pleased to host a reception in honor of its 2013 grant award recipients at The Rogers Center for the Arts at Merrimac College 315 Turnpike Street North Andover Ma on September 17th at 7pm. North Andover Cultural Council grant recipients, including Stevens Memorial Library, North Andover School Enrichment Council, North Andover Council on Aging, Merrimac Valley Philharmonic Society, Inc will discuss their funded projects. A full list of awards is included below.
The event is free, accessible, and open to all residents of North Andover. Light refreshments, provided by Merrimac College will be available.
North Andover Town Manager Andrew Maylor and Legislator Kathleen O’Connor Ives, Diana DiZoglio and James Lyons will be in attendance to welcome guests and present awards.
"This is a chance to honor the work of artists and arts organizations in North Andover," says Linda Ann Mac Donald, chairperson of the North Andover Cultural Council. "We are particularly excited about the range and quality of North Andover Cultural Council-funded projects this year. Each project was chosen because of its substantial public benefit for the residents of North Andover."
Senator Kathleen O’Connor Ives, Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development said, “Thriving arts and cultural opportunities in North Andover improve quality of life and grows the tourism sector of the economy, which is made up of mostly small, local businesses”
The North Andover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
Legislator Diana DiZoglio said, “I am delighted to join the North Andover Cultural Council in this celebration of its 2013 grant award recipients. The grants will help ensure these deserving honorees continue to thrive and contribute to this community.”
This year, the North Andover Cultural Council funded 10 grants totaling $4,470. The North Andover Cultural Council will seek applications again in the fall. Information and forms are available online at www.massculturalcouncil.org. Applications are due Oct. 15, 2013.
