WCVB-TV’s Bianca de la Garza; former Boston Celtics forward Tom “Satch” Sanders; Lia Tota, director of the North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center; and ABCD President and CEO John Drew.
Local celebrities and government officials joined with representatives from Action for Boston Community Development for the recent fundraiser “Buona Sera: An Evening with Friends.”
The fundraiser took place June 7 at the State Room, on the 33rd floor of 60 State St., next to Faneuil Hall. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit ABCD’s North End/West End Service Center, founded in 1964 to serve low-income residents of those downtown neighborhoods. Many of those the center supports are elderly and have fixed incomes and limited formal education.
The event began with a wine reception hosted by Bianca de la Garza, anchor of WCVB’s EyeOpener newscast. The evening also included a four-course meal featuring dishes from more than 15 different North End restaurants.
