The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that it will host a pair of meetings in East Boston and the North End on an upcoming project to rehabilitate the Lieutenant William F. Callahan Tunnel running between the neighborhoods, under Boston Harbor.

MassDOT said the project includes work on the tunnel’s deck, gutters, and curb line, as well as replacing wall panels. It is expected to cause traffic delays, the department said.

Project staff will present details and preliminary schedule information at a meeting at the Nazzaro Community Center in the North End at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, and at East Boston High School on Wednesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m.

Reasonable accommodations, such as the provision of an interpreter, will be made. To request an accommodation or for more information, contact John Romano, MassDOT municipal liaison, at 857-368-8905 or john.romano@state.ma.us.

MassDOT asks that anyone needing an accommodation contact Romano before June 19.
