The South Shore Natural Science Center will be turned into a Latin music festival tomorrow with food, dancing, and tents to keep party goers dry.
“We’re hoping the weather will clear up, but we’re preparing in case it doesn’t,” said science center spokeswoman Judy Azanow. "It's a celebration of the summer solstice."
It will be the first time the center has hosted the festival, which will be highlighted by food from Mo’s Southwest Grill and music from well-known Latin band, Sol y Canto.
Azanow said many of the vendors who will be showing arts and crafts and offering children’s and family activities will be moved indoors. A tent will cover those who want to dance and watch the band, she said.
Tickets cost $15 in advance and $18 at the door, and children are $8 each or $5 for three or more in advance, and $10 each or $8 for three or more the day of the event. Doors open at 4 p.m. and music begins at 5.
Proceeds from the festival will support the center's summer camp and preschool programs.
