Man assaulted at KFC in Norwell

Posted October 6, 2009 08:32 AM

A 24-year-old Marshfield woman was arrested for kicking a customer at the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Washington Street in Norwell, after she and her boyfriend became violent and abusive when their food took too long to be served, police said.
.
Norwell Deputy Police Chief Jack Suurhans said Sara Mohn, 24, was arrested in Hingham and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon (a shod food). The victim and witnesses told police that Mohn and a man identified as her boyfriend Jared Garfagna pushed and hit the victim outside the fast food restaurant.

Suurhans said police will issue a summons for Garfagna, 31, of Marshfield.

According to Suurhans, the victim and witnesses said the couple was in Kentucky Fried Chicken last Thursday at about 6:30 p.m. and became verbally abusive to the staff, using profane language to complain about the service.

The victim, whose name was not released, asked the pair to not swear in front of his children who were waiting in line.

Police said Garfagna began screaming obscenties at the man, who asked Garfagna to go outside with him to calm down and stop swearing around his children.

As the men went outside, police said, Garfagna ran behind the victim and punched him the head causing him to fall to the ground. Police said while the man was on the ground, Mohn ran out of the store and kicked the victim as he lay on the ground.

The pair then fled in a 2000 Nissan Maxima toward Hingham. Hingham Police stopped the vehicle on Main Street and Mohn was arrested. She was expected in Hingham District Court for arraignment Friday.

Garfagna, who was not in the car, will receive a summons to appear in Hingham District Court on assault-and-battery charges.

Police said the victim suffered cuts on his left eye and wrist, but refused medical treatment.
