Norwell school officials have set a timeline to review and prepare next year’s budget.

Superintendent Donald Beaudette said the next step is a meeting of councils of all four schools that will develop a list of priorities and will look at such areas as class size, the number of teachers in each school and classroom, and how priorities fit into the district’s 2020 development plan.

“These are the first steps in what can be a very long and difficult process,” Beaudette said.

The school councils are expected to submit its priorities and review to the School Committee in November.

Beaudette said the district’s executive staff and leadership team will then conduct its own analysis, which will include input from principals, central office employees, and the town’s advisory board.

The final draft budget is expected for a first public hearing at the School Committee’s Jan. 25 meeting.

“There’s a lot that goes into it, and it will be busy over the next few months,” Beaudette said.
