The Norwood Police Department hired two new employees last month -- one to fill a police officer vacancy, the other in the clerk’s position.
Angela M. Gulla, of Norwood, was selected by a five-person panel as the newest officer pending her graduation from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Police Academy.
Gulla is a graduate of Norwood High School, class of 1996, and is a graduate of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Reserve Academy. Her previous employment includes work as an armored car security officer and as a mounted park patrol officer for the Metropolitan District Commission.
Gulla will begin training on Nov. 14 and is expected to graduate in May. At a selectmen meeting Tuesday, Police Chief Bartley King said the interview panel was impressed with her experience, skills, and the overall results of her interview.
In addition, a three-person panel hired Cynthia Keady of Norwood as the Police Department’s new clerk. The position was vacant following the retirement of Mary Jones.
King said Tuesday that Keady is well qualified and he expects that she’ll be an “outstanding employee.”
