The police log: driver arrested on drug charges; shoplifter fails and flees

Here are some incidents reported to the Norwood police during the past week. A full list is available at police headquarters, 137 Nahatan St.

On Feb. 13 at 2:43 p.m., a resident on Norwest Drive reported a car pulled over with a driver inside smoking “something.” Police arrived and arrested Timothy Hennigan, 21, of Norwood on charges of drug possession, distribution of a Class D drug, and a drug violation near a school or park.

On Feb. 14 at 12:57 a.m., a caller near University Avenue and Boston-Providence Highway reported a vehicle accident. One car was towed from the scene; no injuries were reported.

On Feb. 15 at 11:57 a.m., an employee at CVS Pharmacy on Nahatan Street reported that a customer had removed items from a shopping cart without paying. A report of the incident was filed; no arrest was made at the time.

Then at 2:19 p.m. that day, a security guard at Shaws Supermarket on Nahatan Street reported that a female took off running after attempting to take merchandise. The woman left the items behind and ran toward the rear of TJ Maxx, according to the police log. Police took a report of the incident.

At 4:06 p.m. that day, a resident on Bond Street reported that several teens were damaging playground equipment. Officers responded and reported that there wasn’t any damage but that the teens were advised to stay off the equipment.

At 10:18 p.m., a caller reported shoplifting in progress at the CVS Pharmacy on Nahatan Street. Officers arrived and arrested Marlene Baiona, 57, of Norwood. He was charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise -- third offense.
