Bear spotted in Norwood over weekend
A bear was spotted in a few yards around Norwood Saturday night including on one resident's deck on Churchill Drive at 10 p.m., Norwood police said Monday.
The bear reports in Norwood reflect those called into police of neighboring towns including Dedham where a bear was reported Sunday morning around 9 a.m. on Route 109.
According to the Norwood police log, residents on Churchill Drive, Inverness Road, Sycamore Street, and Cypress Street all called in to report the bear.
The logs also said the bear was last seen in the woods behind Norwest Woods Apartments on Norwest Drive and that police advised Westwood police of its movement.
Police did not file any additional reports about the animal on Saturday, but said the Massachusetts Environmental Police were contacted and would respond to any additional reports if the bear settled into one location.
