The Norwood food pantry will hold a 3-mile walk on Oct. 13 to help stock the pantry so it can meet holiday food needs.

Walkers are encouraged to bring non-perishable items and raise pledge money that will be donated to the pantry, a news release about the event said.

Sponsor sheets are available at many churches around town, the library, Town Hall, and on the Grace Episcopal Church website, www.gracenor.org under the newsletter link. Residents without access to a computer can call the church at 781-762-0959.

The walk will start at 9 a.m. and registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and all pledge money will be collected the morning of the event.

This year’s route will start and end at Grace Episcopal Church, 150 Chapel St.

The Norwood food pantry serves about 300 families in Norwood and Westwood year round and is housed at Grace Episcopal Church.

Food donations are always welcomed and can be droped off Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Volunteers are frequently needed and ideas for food drives like the walk on Oct. 13 are encouraged.

For information on how to help or about the walk, call the food pantry at 781-769-0425.
